Meet Demetrius – Experienced Therapist and Performance Coach at Comfort Counseling
With 12 years of experience in the mental health field, Demetrius brings a compassionate and insightful approach to therapy. He has worked in diverse settings, including residential facilities, group homes, and community mental health programs serving both children and adults.
As a former Division I collegiate athlete, Demetrius deeply understands the unique challenges of maintaining mental health while striving for peak performance. His personal journey into therapy highlighted the power of objective support in overcoming irrational and intrusive thoughts that can hinder daily functioning.
Demetrius holds an undergraduate degree in Human Services from Northeastern University and master’s degrees in both Human Services and Professional Counseling from Liberty University. Originally from Maryland, he has been a proud Virginia resident for nearly 18 years.
Demetrius specializes in person-centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused, strength-based, reality therapy, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness techniques. He particularly enjoys coaching clients on optimal performance, focusing on building self-awareness, self-confidence, emotional regulation, goal setting, and effective communication skills.
Outside of work, Demetrius enjoys spending quality time with his wife and two children, staying active through sports and fitness, reading, writing, and relaxing.
